HHLA International and QuinteQ Energy sign agreement for flywheel-enabled port microgrid in Odesa!
QuinteQ Energy and HHLA Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG’s subsidiary HHLA International GmbH have signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the delivery of a flywheel-enabled port microgrid for Container Terminal Odesa in Ukraine.
The agreement was signed at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdansk and marks an important step toward strengthening the energy security and resilience of one of Ukraine’s major trade hubs. By integrating Flywheel Energy Storage into the port microgrid, the project will help deliver the stable, reliable, and resilient power critical port operations need to keep moving, even under challenging conditions.
The signing took place in the presence of Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Sjoerd Sjoerdsma and Ukrainian Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal. Representatives from the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, Container Terminal Odesa, and Ukraine’s State Service for Maritime, Inland Waterway Transport and Shipping were also present.
The project was made possible with the support of the Commissariat for Military Production of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands and Lockheed Martin, who played a key role in the funding structure of this strategic project.
We are proud to take this step together with HHLA International and the wider Ukrainian ports ecosystem, and look forward to building a long and meaningful partnership that supports resilient infrastructure, energy security, and Ukraine’s recovery.
